Howdy-Do, Faithful Followers:

Got a few things going on over here: I’ll be away a whole bunch during the next few weeks. April 13th-16th and then again April 21st-May 8th. Mostly for work, but I’ve thrown some playtime in, as well. If you follow me on Instagram (@the_milkmaid and @twelve28tattoo), you’ll be stuck seeing pictures of my adventures…I’m sure it will mostly be foreign foods and various shots of the ground while I wear a silly pair of Vans. SO EXCITING, I know.

I am still unable to take new clients/projects as I am finishing up the larger pieces that are in progress. If you would like to be put on my waiting list, please email me with your information and a subject heading of “Joy’s Waiting List” (pretty obvious).

As for everyone else at the shop….
Just to remind you all, Jess Versus has moved to Richmond, VA. She now works at 212 Tattoo, so if you need to get your Versus-Fix, contact her down there!

Part of my travels will be in conjunction with Dorothy Lyczek; we are going to the Nepal Tattoo Convention and then off to South China Sea Collective in Hong Kong. (Cannot explain how excited I am about all of this!!) Dorothy is lingering in Asia longer than I and she will return to The States May 25th.

Andrew Ferko’s last day here is April 18th and then the 19th Vinny Ramone comes back for a few weeks to do a little guest spot action. Chris Wednesday is now working full-time. He is available for walk-ins and appointments. Gianna Galli will be starting full-time (woo-hoo!) on May 15th. Please contact her directly to set up consultations/appointments.

As of now, Scarlet Sinclair has no travel plans and is here making beautiful tattoos that have the approval of all kinds of faeries while Roxie Rotten remains manning the fort (read as: is stuck here) being the responsible one while I go off and play in exotic lands. #lifeishard #iloveroxie

Hey guys! By now mostly everyone knows that I (Jess) am moving at the end of March to Richmond, Virginia (where I will be working at 212 Tattoo), but I just wanted to update and let you know that my appointments (and wait list) for the remainder of my time in Brooklyn are now officially CLOSED! If you would still like to book an appointment with me, please keep your eyes peeled for a guest spot at Twelve 28 around June/July. And before I get too mooshy and teary-eyed, I want to express my gratitude again to all of my fabulous clients in New York for letting me hurt you and put pretty pictures on you over the last few years! What a Difference a Few Weeks Makes:

Hey Kids,

As of right now, I am booking into April. Many of my clients are in the middle of big pieces, which we would like to finish sooner rather than later. In consideration of these facts, I will not be taking any new projects/clients until March. That means no consultations until then. I’m sorry, dudes, but it’s crazy enough booking 3 months in advance; I simply cannot continue planning that far in the future. (I don’t even like making plans for the weekend on a Wednesday.) Scheduling things so far away leaves time for a lot of things to change in my life and yours. New living arrangements, job changes, weddings, etc. Far too often appointments get cancelled when they are so far away. If you are not waiting for me specifically, please check out the other talented artists over here on 28 Marcy Ave.

This brings me to the second bit of news I have: the shop is home to 7 artists now! Jess Versus, Scarlet Sinclair, Dorothy Lyzcek, Chris Wednesday, Andrew Ferko, Gianna Galli, and myself. I am in the process of updating our artist information and portfolio section; please be patient. Jess, Scarlet, and Dorothy are full-time. Chris and Andrew are our walk-in artists and they are here Fri/Sat/Sun and Wed/Thurs respectively. Gianna is in a couple times a month and is appointment only, so please get in touch with her directly if you would like to book an appointment. giatattoos@yahoo.com

The bulk of my availability is in February (weekdays only) & March (weekends & weekdays) right now. However, I have a few spots here & there open for small, single-session pieces. If you have a piece that fits this description & also have a flexible, weekday schedule we should chit chat about getting you an appointment sooner than February…maybe even this month.

I’ll be around normal work days (Thursday – Monday) this week. Stop by anytime between Noon & 8pm to consult about said small pieces. I’ll obviously be working those days, so just be mindful that you may need to hang out a few minutes so I can take a break & talk.

Hey guys! Just a quick heads-up that I’ll be open from 12-4PM tomorrow for any and all consultations, so if you’ve been trying to get in touch or stop in to chat about your ideas or book a new appointment, tomorrow is an excellent day for that!

Also, I’m working on catching up to a massive backlog of e-mails from when I was away in Richmond, VA doing a guest spot at 212 Tattoo over my birthday week, so if you are still waiting to hear back, expect a response soon. Thanks for your patience, and my apologies again for the delay!

And in even better news, I’ll officially be opening up SUNDAYS for both appointments and consultations starting December 16th (in addition to keeping my regular hours, THURSDAY – SATURDAY 12-8PM). This means even more rad tattoos, and not having to wait quite so long to book them! Huzzah!

Drew Linden is Moving…

…back to San Diego!

I cannot properly express how sad I am on a personal note that Drew is moving. She has been part of the Twelve 28 Crew for a year now. Drew has not only been a beautiful fit into our tattoo family, but she has become one of my best friends. The four of us girls have weathered some rough shit together and I know we will always remain close. When I say family, I mean that we are just that. I love these girls like crazy. I am a sad mom, haha, but I am all too familiar with having to make tough decisions for long-term goals.

And now, without getting even more mushy about the whole thing, I wish her the best of luck in California and know that she will do well. Please get in touch with her to schedule appointments when she returns in February.
